Cook the pasta according to package instructions in salted water until al dente. Reserve some pasta water before draining.

In a food processor, combine sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, salt, crushed red pepper flakes, fresh basil leaves, and toasted nuts. Blend until smooth.

With the food processor running, slowly add extra-virgin olive oil until the pesto reaches a desired consistency.

In a large bowl, combine the cooked pasta and pesto, adding reserved pasta water as needed to loosen the sauce.

Fold in freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano and mozzarella pearls. Serve with additional basil and cheese on top.
