In a pan on a low heat, melt together the syrup, treacle, butter, and brown sugar.

In a jug, beat the egg and add the milk.

Put the flour, oats, baking powder, bicarb, ginger, and mixed spice into a bowl.

Add the syrup mix into the dry ingredients and stir together, then add the milk and egg mix and stir into a smooth batter.

Pour into a 22 - 23cm baking tray and bake in the oven at 150°C / 320°F / gas mark 3 for 45 to 50 minutes.
