Add the mashed groundnut paste mixed with water to the pot.
Mix everything together, adding more water if the mixture is too thick.
Add diced eggplant or mushrooms (optional) and smoked silver fish (if using).
Cover with a banana leaf or lid and boil for 10 minutes on low heat.
Add green pepper and continue to cook, adjusting salt to taste.
Cook for up to 40 minutes on low heat, ensuring it doesn't get too thick and checking for oil separation as an indicator of doneness.
