Greek yogurt is lower in calories and higher in protein.

Make two batches of thick vanilla cake batter, dye one batch red and the other blue.

Pour red batter into an 8-inch round pan and a 6-inch round pan.

Pour blue batter into an 8-inch round pan, then pipe white cake batter in rings on top.

Bake the cakes in the oven and let them cool, removing parchment paper afterwards.

Stack the two 8-inch cakes and carve the sides to make them square.

Cut the cakes into half-inch layers using a 3.5-inch circle cutter.

Layer the red cake, then pipe buttercream in between for the white part of the flag.

Add the blue layer on top and layer small red layers inside the blue part.

Crumb coat the cake with a thin layer of icing and scrape off excess.

Pipe blue and red buttercream stripes along the side of the cake using a 1M piping tip.

Spiral blue icing on top and add 50 white stars to the cake.
