Start by mixing 5 eggs and 2 cups of sugar in a KitchenAid mixer on medium speed.
Chop 2 cups of walnuts using a small food processor.
Combine 3 cups of all-purpose flour with 1 teaspoon of baking powder and 2 teaspoons of baking soda in a bowl and toss to mix.
Slowly add 1 cup of vegetable oil to the egg and sugar mixture.
Measure out and add 1 cup of whole milk to the batter.
Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon to the mixture.
Fold in the flour mixture into the wet ingredients gradually.
Prepare a 9x13 Pyrex dish by spraying it with cooking spray.
Pour the batter into the prepared dish and bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes until golden brown.
While the cake is baking, make the syrup by combining 3 cups of water, 2 cups of sugar, 1 cinnamon stick, and lemon peel in a pot and let it cook until the sugar dissolves.
Let the syrup cool completely while the cake is baking.
Once the cake is done, cut it into pieces and pour the cooled syrup over the hot cake.
