Cut the 5 pieces of bread into small pieces.
Place the bread pieces in a large bowl.
Pour enough milk over the bread to cover it completely.
Let the bread soak for about 30 minutes until softened.
Add 2 ripe bananas to the soaked bread and mash them.
Add 2 eggs to the mixture.
Add 3/4 cup of sugar, but reserve about 1/4 cup to keep the mixture from being too sweet.
Melt 1 stick of margarine and add most of it to the mixture, reserving a little for greasing the pan.
Add 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon to the mixture.
Mix all the ingredients together by hand until well combined.
Prepare caramel by heating 3/4 cup of sugar in a saucepan, stirring until it melts and turns a golden color.
Grease an 8-inch by 5.5-inch baking dish with reserved margarine.
Pour the caramel into the greased baking dish.
Add raisins to the bread mixture and mix well.
Pour the bread mixture into the baking dish over the caramel.
Place the baking dish in a larger dish filled with water (water bath) to prevent the caramel from burning.
Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C).
Bake in the oven for about 1 hour, checking occasionally.
If the pudding is not browning enough, increase the temperature to 450°F (232°C) to achieve a golden top.
Once baked, carefully invert the pudding onto a plate to serve.
