French Canadian Lentil Soup

Cultural Context

Originating from the French-speaking regions of Canada, particularly Quebec, French Canadian Lentil Soup is a comforting dish that reflects the region's agricultural roots. Traditionally made with simple, hearty ingredients, it showcases the use of lentils, a staple in many Canadian households. This soup is often enjoyed during cold winter months and has become a beloved recipe that families pass down through generations. Today, variations abound, with some adding meat or different vegetables, but the essence remains the same: a nourishing, flavorful meal that warms the soul.
