- ●2 lbs beef bones
- ●10 cups water
- ●1 large onion, quartered
- ●2 carrots, chopped
- ●2 celery stalks, chopped
- ●4 cloves garlic, smashed
- ●1 bay leaf
- ●1 tsp black peppercorns
- ●1 tsp salt
- ●1 tsp dried thyme
- ●1 tsp dried parsley
Instructions
- 1Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- 2Place the beef bones on a baking sheet and roast in the oven for about 30 minutes until browned.
- 3In a large pot, combine the roasted bones, water, onion, carrots, celery, garlic, bay leaf, peppercorns, salt, thyme, and parsley.
- 4Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat.
- 5Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for at least 4 hours, skimming off any foam that rises to the surface.
- 6After simmering, strain the broth through a fine-mesh sieve into another pot or bowl, discarding the solids.
- 7Let the broth cool, then refrigerate it until the fat solidifies on top.
- 8Once cooled, remove the solidified fat and discard it, or save it for cooking.
- 9The bouillon can be used immediately or stored in the refrigerator for up to a week, or frozen for longer storage.
