Roti Maryam

280 gr bread flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
½ tbsp sugar
2 tbsp margarine
120 ml milk
1 pc egg
100 ml oil
condensed milk

Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Mix well.

Mix the egg and milk. Pour slowly into the flour mix while stirring, then knead until the dough comes together.

Add the margarine in. Knead until the surface is smooth.

Rest for 15-30 minutes, covered.

Divide the dough into 6 even pieces.

Shape the dough into a ball and soak in oil for at least 4 hours at room temperature.

Flatten the dough with a rolling pin. Rub the surface with oil / margarine.

Dust both sides with flour, then fold as if you’re making a fan origami.

Roll the dough into a circle and tuck the tip underneath. Rest again for 15-30 minutes.

Flatten the dough slowly with hands, then flatten with a rolling pin.

Fry the dough using a nonstick pan on medium-low heat until browned.

Place the Roti Canai on a clean tea towel and press it gently.

Serve the Roti Canai with butter and condensed milk as toppings.
