Aussie Damper Bread

Today, Damper is enjoyed in homes and campsites alike, often served with butter and jam, showcasing its rustic charm and connection to Australian heritage.

In a large mixing bowl, add 3 cups of self-raising flour.
Add 3 teaspoons of baking powder and a pinch of salt.
Cut 80 g of butter into small cubes and rub it into the flour mixture until it resembles breadcrumbs.
Pour in 3/4 cup of water and mix with a round-edged knife until the dough starts to come together, adding more water if needed.
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for a couple of minutes until smooth.
Shape the dough into a disc and transfer it onto a baking tray.
Make score marks on the top of the dough with a sharp knife, without cutting all the way through.
Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 30 minutes or until cooked through.
