2 oz rye whiskey
1 sugar cube
2 dashes Peychaud's bitters
1 dash Angostura bitters
1/4 oz absinthe
lemon peel (for garnish)

Chill a rocks glass by filling it with ice water and set aside.

In a mixing glass, muddle the sugar cube with the Peychaud's bitters and a few drops of water until dissolved.

Add the rye whiskey and ice to the mixing glass and stir until well chilled.

Discard the ice water from the chilled rocks glass and rinse the glass with absinthe, swirling it around to coat the inside, then discard the excess.

Strain the chilled whiskey mixture into the prepared glass.
