Yemeni Style Smokey Chicken Mandi

Cultural Context

Mandi, originating from Yemen, is a traditional dish that showcases the region's rich culinary heritage. Often served during festive occasions, it combines fragrant rice and marinated meat, typically chicken or lamb, cooked with an array of spices. The dish is known for its smokiness, achieved through the cooking method and spices used. In recent years, Mandi has gained popularity beyond Yemen, with variations appearing in other Middle Eastern countries and around the world, each adding its unique twist.
