1

Combine warm milk and yeast in a bowl; let sit until frothy, about 5-10 minutes.

2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt.

3

Add eggs, melted butter, orange zest, lemon zest, and vanilla extract to the flour mixture; mix until combined.

4

Pour in the yeast mixture and knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.

5

Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1-2 hours.

6

Gently deflate the dough and fold in the dried fruit and candied citrus peel.

7

Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a panettone mold or a tall cake pan.

8

Cover and let it rise again until it reaches the top of the mold, about 1 hour.

9

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

10

Bake the panettone for 40-50 minutes, until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

11

Remove from the oven and let cool in the mold for 10 minutes.

12

Carefully remove the panettone from the mold and cool completely on a wire rack.

13

Once cool, dust with powdered sugar and serve.
