Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl.
Crumble fresh yeast into lukewarm milk and let it activate for 10-15 minutes until bubbly.
Create a well in the center of the flour mixture using a cup.
Pour the milk and yeast mixture into the well.
Add a whole egg at room temperature and crumbled room temperature butter on top.
Mix the ingredients together by hand, incorporating flour gradually until a sticky dough forms.
Knead the dough by hand until smooth, then let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 to 1.5 hours.
Turn the risen dough onto a workbench and form it into a ball.
Roll out the dough into a rough rectangle and place it in a lined rectangular cake ring on a baking tray.
Melt butter in a saucepan, then add sugar and honey, stirring until combined.
Remove from heat and add whipping cream to cool the mixture.
Coat blanched sliced almonds with the butter mixture.
Spread the almond mixture evenly over the dough in the cake ring.
Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C (375°F) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Slice the baked cake in half horizontally to prepare for filling.
Pre-cut portions in the top layer for easier serving.
Prepare diplomat cream filling and spread a generous layer on the bottom half of the cake.
Reassemble the cake with the top half and chill in the refrigerator for about an hour before serving.
