Southwestern Turkey Burgers

Cultural Context

Originating from the American Southwest, Southwestern Turkey Burgers reflect the region's love for bold flavors and fresh ingredients. These burgers incorporate spices and elements like black beans and corn, which are staples in Southwestern cuisine. Today, they are enjoyed across the U.S. as a healthier alternative to traditional beef burgers, appealing to those looking for a leaner protein option without sacrificing flavor.

💰Cheaper: American cheese

1

Combine the ground turkey with the finely diced onion, green & red peppers, corn, egg, and seasonings in a medium size mixing bowl. Mix well to combine all ingredients.

2

Form 6 burger patties by placing ⅙ of the mixture between two sheets of parchment and gently press into a burger shape.

3

Leave the burger patties on the parchment, but remove the top layer of parchment and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

4

Preheat the Ninja Foodi Grill on the max grill setting with the basket in. If you are using a different air fryer or grill, preheat at the maximum temperature setting for a full 10 minutes.

5

Place the burgers in the hot basket (only 4 fit at a time with the Ninja Foodi grill) and Air Crisp (or Air Fry) at the hottest temperature (450°F/230°C in the NF Indoor Grill) for 5 minutes. Reduce the temperature to 350°F/175°C and air crisp another 5-7 minutes. Check the temp to make sure the internal temperature is 165°F/74°C. Remove the burgers and let them rest for a few minutes.

6

Serve over a salad or on a bun. Enjoy!

7

Mix all ingredients for the Southwestern Mayo in a small bowl and serve.
