Soften 2 sticks of butter to room temperature.
Add 3/4 cup sugar to the softened butter and mix until combined.
Beat 3 eggs and reserve 2 tablespoons of egg whites for later use.
Add the beaten eggs to the butter and sugar mixture and mix well.
Measure 3 cups of flour and 1 heaping tablespoon of baking powder.
Add 1/2 cup of flour to the baking powder and mix together.
Add 1 tablespoon of canola oil to the mixture.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the egg mixture, starting with 1/2 cup of flour.
Continue to add flour gradually, checking the consistency until it resembles Play-Doh.
Form the dough into 4 discs and wrap in wax paper or plastic wrap to prevent drying out.
Shape the dough into various forms such as twists, wreaths, or figure eights on a floured surface.
Prepare the egg wash by mixing the reserved egg whites with 2 tablespoons of milk.
Brush the egg wash onto the shaped cookies before baking.
Place the cookies on trays and bake at 350°F for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
