Prepare the bread machine pan.
Add 1 cup of warm tap water (110°F) to the pan.
Sprinkle in 2 teaspoons of active dry yeast and 1/2 teaspoon of sugar to activate the yeast.
Wait for the yeast to bubble and foam before proceeding.
Add 1/4 cup of softened butter to the pan.
Pour in 1/2 cup of molasses into the pan.
Add 1 cup of whole wheat flour to the pan.
Spoon in 2 cups of all-purpose flour, ensuring not to pack it down.
Add 1/4 cup of instant milk powder to the mixture.
Sprinkle in 1 teaspoon of salt.
Add 1 1/2 teaspoons of cinnamon to the mixture.
Set the bread machine to the dough setting and start it.
After 5-6 minutes of kneading, check the dough for stickiness.
If the dough is sticky, add a tablespoon of flour at a time until it is manageable.
If the dough is dry, add a tablespoon of water at a time until it is moist enough.
Once the dough is ready, remove it from the bread machine with clean hands.
Form the dough into a log shape and place it in a greased loaf pan.
Cover the dough with clean film and drape a damp cloth over it.
Let the dough rise for 1 to 1.5 hours until it has puffed up above the rim of the pan.
Preheat the oven to 375°F.
Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 25-35 minutes until it is a darker brown color and smells of molasses and cinnamon.
Check the internal temperature of the bread; it should be 190°F when done.
Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool before slicing.
