Franskbrød, or Danish white bread, has its roots in the baking traditions of Denmark, where it is a staple for breakfast. This soft, slightly sweet bread is often enjoyed with butter or jam, reflecting the Danish love for simple yet flavorful food. It's commonly made in households and is a favorite for sandwiches or toast. Today, variations exist, with some bakers adding seeds or spices for unique flavors, showcasing its adaptability in modern kitchens.

Dissolve yeast in water and mix with milk and yogurt.
Add flour, salt, and sugar, and knead well for five minutes.
Gradually knead in the soft butter, kneading for another five minutes.
Let the dough rest at room temperature for 1 hour, then refrigerate covered for 10-12 hours.
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and flatten it slightly.
Roll the dough tightly into a log, tucking the ends underneath.
Place the shaped dough seam-side down on parchment paper and cover to let it proof for 2.5 hours.
Preheat the oven to 250°C with a baking steel in the middle and a baking tray at the bottom.
Brush the bread with milk and optionally sprinkle with poppy seeds.
Make a few slashes on top of the bread with a sharp knife.
Place the bread on the hot baking steel and pour boiling water into the preheated tray.
Bake for five minutes, then reduce the temperature to 190°C and bake for an additional 25 minutes.
Transfer the bread to a rack and let it cool for 30 minutes before slicing.
