Homemade pudding can be healthier and more flavorful.
Get out a small saucepan and set it over medium to low heat.
Add 1 cup of whole milk, 1/4 cup of regular sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt to the saucepan and stir until dissolved.
Stir the mixture for about 5 minutes until the milk starts to steam.
In a separate bowl, combine 1/2 cup of heavy cream and 2 tablespoons of cornstarch, whisking until there are no lumps.
After 5 minutes, add the cream and cornstarch mixture to the saucepan and cook for another 5 minutes, stirring continuously until it thickens.
Remove the saucepan from heat and add 1 tablespoon of vanilla and 1 tablespoon of butter, stirring until the butter is melted.
Transfer the pudding to a bowl and let it cool completely, allowing it to thicken further as it cools.
Slice 2 bananas into about 1/2 inch thick pieces.
In a frying pan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter, then add 3 tablespoons of brown sugar and 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon, stirring until the sugar dissolves to create a caramel sauce.
Add the sliced bananas to the caramel sauce and stir for about a minute until they soften.
In a mixing bowl, combine 1/2 cup of whipping cream with 2 teaspoons of sugar and beat until whipped cream forms.
To assemble, start with a layer of diced 1/2 piece of pound cake in a serving dish.
Add a quarter of the caramelized banana mixture on top of the pound cake.
Layer a quarter of the pudding on top of the bananas.
Repeat with another layer of pound cake, followed by the remaining caramelized bananas and another layer of pudding.
Top with a generous layer of whipped cream and drizzle with extra caramel sauce if desired.
