6 Yukon Gold potatoes
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
salt to taste

Preheat the oven to 425°F.

Line a baking sheet with foil and lightly coat it with cooking spray.

Cut 6 Yukon Gold potatoes into thick fries.

Place the cut fries in a colander and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of sugar. Set aside for 20 to 30 minutes.

Drain the liquid released from the potatoes and dry them well with a dish towel or paper towels.

Add the fries to a large resalable plastic bag and pour in 1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil.

Season with 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, salt, and freshly ground black pepper to taste.

Seal the bag and shake to mix until the fries are evenly coated.

Spread the fries in a single layer onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between them.

Bake the fries in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.

After 20 minutes, turn the fries and continue baking until crisp and brown, about 20 minutes more.
