In a large bowl, beat together 1 cup of butter and 2 cups of sugar until light and fluffy.
Add 4 large eggs, blending after each addition.
Mix in 1/4 teaspoon of almond extract and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until creamy.
Gradually blend in 3 cups of all-purpose flour until combined.
Grease a 10 x 15 baking dish with cooking spray.
Spread 3 cups of the dough into the bottom of the greased baking dish.
Pour 2 cans of cherry pie filling over the dough.
Drop the remaining dough on top of the cherries using a spoon, leaving some cherries exposed.
Bake at 350°F for about 35 to 40 minutes until golden brown.
While baking, prepare a glaze with 1 cup of confectioner sugar and 2-3 tablespoons of milk until drizzling consistency is reached.
Optionally, add about 1/2 teaspoon of almond extract to the glaze.
Drizzle the glaze over the cooled dessert bars.
