Today, variations can be found across the Levant, with some regions adding spices or herbs to the dough, showcasing the bread's adaptability and enduring popularity.

Blend plain yogurt with turmeric, chopped green onions, salt, and about 3 tablespoons of olive oil to make a yogurt sauce.
Chop two bunches of parsley finely and add to the yogurt sauce along with black pepper, cumin, and dried mint.
Add about 8 eggs to the mixture, mixing well.
Gradually add about 2 cups of all-purpose flour until the mixture thickens enough to drop into boiling yogurt.
Bring the yogurt sauce to a boil.
Scoop the egg and vegetable mixture with a spoon and gently slide it into the boiling yogurt sauce using another spoon.
Ensure the dumplings remain individual pieces; if they fall apart, add more flour.
Add 1 cup of cooked lentils to the mixture after the dumplings are added.
Mix gently to combine, ensuring the dumplings are bite-sized.
Add about 1 tablespoon of clarified butter for flavor.
Pour into a serving bowl and garnish with parsley, toasted almonds, or toasted pine nuts.
