This rustic bread is known for its crispy crust and airy, open crumb, making it perfect for sandwiches or as a side to meals. Today, ciabatta is enjoyed globally, with various adaptations appearing in bakeries around the world.

Mix 100 ml warm water, 1 teaspoon sugar, and 8 g dry yeast in a bowl.
Cover with cling film and let rise for 15-20 minutes.
Add 500 g flour and 1.5 teaspoons salt to the mixture and mix well.
Make a small indentation in the dough.
Add 350 ml warm water and mix well.
Add 30 ml vegetable oil and ensure it absorbs all the oil.
Cover and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.
Wet your hands with water and turn the dough over.
Cover and let it sit for another 15-20 minutes.
Wet your hands again and turn the dough over once more.
Cover with cling film and let rise for 50-60 minutes.
Sprinkle the table generously with flour and flatten the dough, folding it several times.
Divide the dough into 4 equal parts and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Cover and let it sit for 30 minutes.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 25 minutes.
Cool the bread completely before serving.
