Chocolate chips are easier to work with and less expensive.
Start by adding 3 cups of flour into a bowl.
Add 1 tablespoon of sugar to the flour.
Pour in 1 tablespoon of oil and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
Add 1 egg to the mixture.
Optionally, add milk powder if desired.
Mix all the ingredients well, gradually adding them together.
Knead the dough by hand until it is well combined and soft.
Cover the dough with oil and let it rest for 2 hours to rise.
After 2 hours, punch down the dough to release air.
Divide the dough into small balls.
Roll each ball into thin circles.
Stack the rolled circles on top of each other, applying butter between each layer.
After stacking, press down on the top layer.
Cut slits in the center of the stacked dough.
Place a piece of chocolate on one side of the cut.
Fold the dough over the chocolate to form a sandwich.
Prepare a baking tray by greasing it.
Place the chocolate croissants on the tray.
Cover the croissants and let them rest for 25-30 minutes.
Preheat the oven and bake the croissants for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
Remove the croissants from the oven and brush them with butter for shine.
