In a metal ladle or measuring cup, put one generous tablespoon of sugar.

Heat it over the stovetop, stirring constantly, until it completely melts to a liquid (add a small dash of water to help if you're impatient).

Add a couple of pinches of baking soda and mix thoroughly.

Immediately pour it onto a flat, non-stick, oiled surface.

Insert a skewer and press with another non-stick, oiled surface (the bottom of a pan works well).

Press down whatever shape you want in the middle and you should be able to lift it up and eat almost immediately.
