Stir in 1 tablespoon of sasson, adding more if a redder color is desired.

4

Optionally, add olives for flavor or just the juice of the olives if preferred.

5

Crush a pinch of oregano between fingers and sprinkle it into the mixture.

6

Add 2 cups of long grain rice to the pot and mix it with the sauce.

7

Pour in the can of gandules along with the water from the can, without draining it.

8

Add 3 3/4 cups of water to the pot and mix everything together.

9

Add salt to taste, ensuring the water is slightly salty.

10

Let the mixture boil without stirring until all the water is absorbed.

Once dry, stir the rice gently and mound it in the pot.

Lower the temperature to low, cover the pot, and let it cook for 15 minutes without uncovering.

After 15 minutes, uncover and stir the rice again for even cooking.
