fried fish masala - 5 Tablespoons
lemon juice – 1 Nos
salt – to taste
oil - less than 1/4 cup
all-purpose flour – 1 cup
cornflour – 1/2 cup
black pepper crushed - 1 Tbsp
salt - 1 tsp
red chilli powder 1 Tsp
egg – 1 (optional for richer coating)
water – as needed (to make a medium-thick slurry)

Clean and marinate the fish by washing and patting dry the barracuda slices.

In a bowl, mix all the marinade ingredients to form a paste and rub it evenly over each piece of fish. Cover and let it marinate for at least 2 hours, preferably 1–2 hours in the fridge.

In another bowl, mix all-purpose flour, cornflour, egg (if using), salt, pepper, red chilli powder and a little water to make a smooth, medium-thick batter.

Dip each marinated fish slice into the slurry, ensuring it is evenly coated and let the excess drip off.

Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat and carefully place coated fish slices into the hot oil. Fry each side for 3–5 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

Drain the fried fish on paper towels and serve hot with lemon wedges, sliced onions, and mint chutney or ketchup.
