Its smooth texture and rich flavor make it a beloved treat across many cultures, with variations found in Latin America and Asia, where it's known simply as flan.

Vanilla bean enhances flavor naturally.
Prepare a skillet for making caramel over medium heat.
Add 1 cup of granulated sugar to the skillet and stir carefully to avoid burning.
Wait for the sugar to melt and turn amber in color, stirring gently.
Once the caramel is ready, carefully pour it into a baking pan.
In a blender, combine 1 can of evaporated milk, 1 can of condensed milk, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1 pinch of salt, and 4 eggs. Blend until smooth.
Set up a double boiler by placing the baking pan with caramel into a larger pan filled with water.
Add water to the larger pan and place it on medium heat until it starts to boil.
Once boiling, lower the heat to low and cover the setup with a lid.
Cook for approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour, checking every 15-20 minutes to ensure the water does not evaporate, adding more water if necessary.
After cooking, remove the flan from the water and let it rest at room temperature for a few hours until cool.
Once cooled, run a knife around the edges of the flan to loosen it before flipping it onto a plate.
Flip the flan onto a plate and serve.
