Peel down the sides of the vanilla ice cream carton and make big slices to form it into an 8-inch round cake pan lined with plastic wrap.
Press the ice cream into the shape of the pan and cover with plastic wrap.
Freeze the ice cream layer for at least 1 hour until firm.
Prepare the box cake mix according to the instructions on the box and pour it into an 8-inch round cake pan.
Bake the cake and let it cool.
Coarsely chop the Oreo cookies by pounding them in a plastic bag or chopping with a knife.
Stir in a whole bottle of Magic Shell into the cookie crumbs until well combined.
Turn the cooled cake upside down onto a cardboard round and spread the crunchies on top, leaving some space around the edges.
Remove the ice cream from the pan and place it on top of the crunchies with the smooth side facing up.
Freeze the cake for about 1 hour.
Whip together 1 pint of heavy cream and 2 cups of powdered sugar until thick and sturdy to make the frosting.
Spread the whipped cream frosting over the frozen cake, creating a ridge pattern around the sides with a serrated knife.
If serving the same day, freeze for at least another hour; for best results, freeze overnight.
Decorate the cake with sprinkles and optional colored frosting if desired.
