Salted Maple Pie hails from the northeastern United States, where maple syrup production is a cherished tradition. This pie combines the rich sweetness of maple syrup with a hint of salt, creating a delightful balance of flavors. It's especially popular during the fall and winter holidays, often served at Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Today, variations can be found across the country, with some incorporating nuts or different spices for added depth.

Greek yogurt reduces calories while maintaining creaminess
In a mixing bowl, whisk together 1 cup of maple syrup and 10 tablespoons of melted and cooled butter.
Add 3/4 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup cornmeal, and 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt to the mixture and whisk until smooth.
In a separate bowl, whisk together 3 eggs, 1 egg yolk, and 3/4 cup heavy cream until smooth.
Add 1 and 1/4 teaspoons of vanilla extract to the egg mixture and whisk to combine.
Whisk the egg and cream mixture into the maple syrup mixture until thoroughly blended.
Pour the filling into a par-baked pie crust.
Carefully transfer the pie to a 350°F oven and bake for roughly 1 hour.
When removed from the oven, the pie should feel mostly set but still a little jiggly in the center.
Sprinkle the pie with flaky sea salt.
Let the pie cool completely for at least 4 hours before cutting and serving.
Serve with a dollop of salted barely sweet whipped cream.
