Chop a large onion finely.
Crush and chop 4 or 5 cloves of garlic.
In a pan, lightly fry the chopped onion and garlic in butter.
Open the canned confit duck and strip the meat off the bones, shredding it into pieces.
Mix the shredded duck with the fried onion and garlic.
Chop some parsley and stir it into the duck mixture along with salt and pepper.
Boil the potatoes until tender, then mash them with about half a pot of creme fraiche and seasoning.
Spread the mashed potatoes over the duck mixture in the pan, covering it completely.
Sprinkle grated Comté cheese and grated Parmesan cheese on top of the mashed potatoes.
Bake the dish in the oven for 40 minutes until golden and bubbly.
