Servings4
1 lb shallots
2 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp butter
to taste cilantro
to taste parsley

Quantities are estimated based on standard recipes for your convenience. The actual ingredients used in this video are accurate.

1

Dice the shallots by cutting both ends off, slicing in half lengthwise, peeling the outer layer, and then slicing into half-inch segments.

2

Set a medium or large pan on the stove to medium-high heat.

3

Add olive oil to the pan and wait for it to begin bubbling.

4

Add the diced shallots to the pan and let them brown and sizzle.

5

Add a little bit of salt to the shallots.

6

Reduce the heat to medium and regularly stir the shallots for 5 to 10 minutes until they caramelize to your desired level of brownness.

7

Optionally, add about a tablespoon of butter if the shallots are browning too fast.

8

At the end, sprinkle some cilantro or parsley on top if desired.
