Instructions
- 1In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- 2Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- 3Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- 4Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 5Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 6In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water to a boil and add baking soda.
- 7Divide the dough into small pieces and roll each piece into a ball.
- 8Carefully drop the pretzel bites into the boiling water for about 30 seconds, then remove with a slotted spoon and place on the prepared baking sheet.
- 9Brush the pretzel bites with the beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
- 10Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
