Slice cucumbers not as evenly as with a mandolin, but sharpen your knife skills.

Add salt to the cucumbers and toss to coat them.

Place salted cucumbers in a colander to rest for 20 minutes to extract excess water.

Prepare the salad dressing by adding quartered onion to a bowl and adding apple cider vinegar to soak for a few seconds.

Add dill and sour cream to the onion and mix together.

Check the cucumbers after 20 minutes and discard the extracted water.

Combine the cucumbers with the dressing and mix thoroughly to coat the cucumbers.

Taste the salad to ensure it is well coated with dressing.
