Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Prepare the decoration mixture: combine 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon egg white, 1 tablespoon powdered sugar, and 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour until creamy. Add 1-2 drops of black food coloring and mix well. Reserve in a plastic bag.
In a mixing bowl, whisk 4 room temperature eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla paste. Slowly add 1/2 cup granulated sugar and mix well.
Add 1/2 cup all-purpose flour to the egg mixture and mix until well incorporated.
Spread the black batter for decoration onto the baking sheet.
Bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes until fluffy.
Prepare the filling by mixing 1 cup heavy whipping cream with 1 tablespoon cocoa powder until fluffy.
Remove the cake from the oven and carefully flip it onto a new piece of parchment paper. Remove the original parchment paper.
Trim the edges of the cake to make rolling easier.
Spread the filling over the cake and roll it up gently. Let it rest for a couple of minutes before serving.
