Start by making the secret sauce: mix mayonnaise and ketchup in a bowl.
Add relish, sugar, and white vinegar to the mixture.
Sprinkle in all-purpose seasoning and mix well.
Cover the sauce and set aside.
Prepare 2 pounds of lean ground beef and season with all-purpose seasoning.
Form the beef into 3-ounce patties using a burger press, ensuring they are cold before cooking.
Mince a medium yellow onion and put it in a skillet with 1 tablespoon of butter.
Cook the onions on medium-low heat, stirring frequently for about 5 to 7 minutes until caramelized.
Add 1 tablespoon of water to the onions to deglaze the pan, scraping up flavor particles. Repeat up to 3 times.
In the same skillet, cook the burger patties, ensuring they are flat and larger than the buns to prevent shrinking.
While the burgers cook, fry frozen french fries according to package instructions.
Melt American cheese over the fries, using steam by adding water and covering the pan with a lid.
Toast hamburger and hot dog buns until golden brown.
Assemble the burger by placing the patty on the toasted bun, adding caramelized onions, and garnishing with chopped chives.
Wrap the burger to keep it tight and easier to eat.
Serve the burger with the fries, adding the secret sauce on top of the fries.
