1

Dice one large onion.

2

Slice one tomato.

3

Remove the core from a head of lettuce by hitting the bottom hard.

4

Shred the lettuce (note: In-N-Out does not shred their lettuce).

5

In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup mayonnaise, 1/2 cup ketchup, 1/4 cup sweet relish, 1 teaspoon mustard, 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Mix until well combined and set aside.

6

In a large pan over medium heat, add some oil and butter. Once the butter has melted, add the diced onion and lightly season with salt and pepper. Cook until golden brown and then set aside.

7

In the same large pan, melt some butter and toast the buns until golden brown. Set aside.

8

Roll beef into medium-sized balls and flatten with a spatula, using parchment paper underneath.

9

In a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon seasoned salt, 1/2 tablespoon black pepper, 1/4 teaspoon onion powder, and 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder. Season the patties with this mixture.

10

In a large iron skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon olive oil or vegetable oil. Once hot, add the patty and cook for 2-3 minutes.

11

After 2-3 minutes, add mustard to the uncooked side of the patty, flip it, and add cheese. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, adding a little water and covering with a lid to help the cheese melt.

12

Assemble the burger by adding sauce to the bottom bun, followed by pickles, lettuce, sliced tomatoes, the first patty, caramelized onions, the second patty, and the top bun.

13

Cook frozen fries in an air fryer or oven. Once cooked, place in a dish and add 2 slices of American cheese on top while still hot to melt the cheese.

14

Once the cheese has melted, add caramelized onions and sauce on top of the fries.
