Take a handful of pizza dough and stretch it to about an 8-inch circle.
Prepare a mixture of about a quarter teaspoon of garlic powder and half a teaspoon of parsley with melted butter to top the calzones later.
Spread barbecue sauce on the stretched dough, or use any sauce you prefer like tomato sauce or ranch.
Add toppings such as cheese, mushrooms, pepperoni, or cooked bacon, ensuring not to overload the calzone.
Fold the dough over the filling and press with fingers to seal.
Use a fork to crimp the edges of the calzone for a tighter seal, optionally using a little water to help the edges stick.
Place the formed calzones on a cookie sheet, facing each other to contain any leakage.
Poke small holes in the top of each calzone to allow steam to escape during baking.
Brush the tops of the calzones with the garlic, butter, and parsley mixture.
Sprinkle powdered Parmesan cheese on top of each calzone.
Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F for about 20 minutes, checking for doneness around 18 minutes.
Remove from the oven and cut one calzone in half to check the filling.
