Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface until thin.
Cut the pastry into triangles, about 4 inches wide at the base.
Soften the butter and spread a thin layer over each triangle.
Sprinkle sugar and a pinch of salt over the buttered pastry.
Starting from the base, roll each triangle tightly towards the tip.
Curve the ends to form a crescent shape and place on a baking sheet.
Whisk together eggs and a splash of milk for the egg wash.
Brush the croissants with the egg wash for a golden finish.
Bake for 15-20 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Serve warm with fruit preserves or chocolate spread.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container.
