Maple Nut Twist

Start by dissolving 1 tablespoon of dry active yeast in a mixing bowl with 1/4 cup of warm water.

Let the yeast sit for a bit to dissolve, swirling it around.

Add 3/4 cup of lukewarm milk and 1/4 cup of sugar to the yeast mixture.

Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the mixture.

Mix the yeast, milk, sugar, and salt together briefly with a mixer.

Crack 1 egg into a separate container to check for shells, then add it to the mixture.

Add 1/4 cup of butter or margarine to the mixture.

Begin adding flour, starting with 3 cups of bread flour or all-purpose flour, mixing slowly to avoid flour dusting everywhere.

Add more flour gradually until the dough starts to form a ball and pulls away from the sides of the bowl, usually around 3 to 4 cups total.

Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until the gluten structure develops.
