Homemade crust can be more economical.
In a large mixing bowl, add apples that have been cored, peeled, and cut.
Add a couple tablespoons of lemon juice to the apples to prevent browning and coat them.
Add brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ground ginger, and cornstarch to the apples and stir the ingredients very well.
Add cheese to the apple mixture and stir until well incorporated.
Transfer the apple cheese mixture into a pie crust.
Place another crust on top of the pie, making a few slits in it, and brush with milk.
Place a pie crust shield on the edges to prevent burning.
Transfer the pie into a preheated oven at 450°F (232°C) and bake for 30 minutes.
About 10 minutes before the end of cooking, remove the pie crust shield.
Once done, remove the pie from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
