1

Preheat the oven to 400°F.

2

Gather ingredients: pecans, sugar, corn syrup, vanilla, butter, salt, pie crust, eggs, and optional cornstarch.

3

Roll out the pie crust and tuck the edges under for a thicker crust.

4

Use a fork or other utensil to create a decorative edge on the pie crust.

5

Melt 1 stick of butter in a pan (or microwave).

6

In a mixing bowl, beat 6 eggs until frothy.

7

Add approximately 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract and 1 cup of sugar to the eggs and mix.

8

Add 16 ounces (2 cups) of dark corn syrup to the mixture.

9

Cool the melted butter slightly before adding it to the mixture to avoid scrambling the eggs.

10

Temper the mixture by adding some of the egg mixture to the butter before combining it all together.

11

Add a pinch of salt and a small amount of maple extract to the mixture.

12

Chop about two-thirds of a bag of pecans and add them to the mixture.

13

Take the pie crusts from the freezer and fill them with the mixture, creating a design on top if desired.

14

Cover the edges of the pie with tin foil to prevent burning.

15

Place the pies in the oven for 40 to 50 minutes, checking at 30 minutes to see how they are doing.

16

After 30 minutes, check the pies; if they are not done, keep them in the oven, covered with foil.

17

After an additional 10 minutes, check the pies again; if they are still not done, leave them in for more time until set.
