Hard Dough Bread is a staple in Jamaican cuisine, often enjoyed with butter, cheese, or as a side to various dishes. It has roots in the Caribbean and is known for its dense, slightly sweet texture. Traditionally, it is made for special occasions and family gatherings, symbolizing hospitality and warmth. Today, variations exist across the Caribbean, with many enjoying it toasted for breakfast or as a hearty sandwich base.

Almond milk reduces calories.
Add flour, sugar, and instant yeast to a mixing bowl.
Mix the dry ingredients by hand for about 3 to 5 minutes.
Add cold butter to the mixture and continue mixing by hand.
After 5 minutes, add salt to the mixture and mix well.
Pour in 1.25 cups of warm water and knead the dough by hand until smooth and slightly tacky, about 5 to 10 minutes.
Form the dough into a ball and scrape any flour from the bottom of the bowl into the dough.
Grease a bowl with about 1 teaspoon of olive oil and place the dough inside.
Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a cool place for about 45 minutes.
After 45 minutes, lightly grease the countertop and add the dough.
Flatten the dough and cut it into four equal squares.
Roll each square into a tight spiral log.
Grease a baking dish with olive oil and preheat the oven to 350°F.
Place the logs in the greased baking dish.
Bake in the oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
