4 servings
Servings4
4 cups stale loaf bread
1/4 cup corn oil (or any vegetable oil)
1/4 cup parmesan cheese (grated)
1 tsp garlic powder

Quantities are estimated based on standard recipes for your convenience. The actual ingredients used in this video are accurate.

1

Cut two slices of stale loaf bread into close to one inch strips.

2

Turn on a 3-quart pot to high heat and add about a quart of corn oil, heating it to 325-350 degrees Fahrenheit.

3

Once the oil reaches 325 degrees, reduce the heat to medium-high.

4

Using a slotted spoon, carefully add the bread strips to the hot oil, cooking them for about 30 seconds to one minute until they start to brown.

5

Remove the croutons from the oil using the slotted spoon and place them on an oblong dish lined with a paper towel to drain excess oil.

6

While the first batch is draining, add the next batch of bread strips to the oil.

7

Once the second batch is done, place it on a new paper towel-lined dish to drain.

8

Sprinkle garlic powder over the croutons to taste.

9

Sprinkle grated parmesan cheese over the croutons to taste.

10

Store the croutons in a Ziploc bag at room temperature for up to a week.
