In a large bowl, mix the bread flour, yeast, and sugar together.

Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a damp cloth.
Let the dough rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size, about 1-2 hours.
Punch down the dough and divide it into equal pieces.
Shape each piece into a long loaf, tapering the ends.
Place the loaves on a baking sheet that has been sprinkled with cornmeal.
Cover the loaves and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
Make shallow slashes on top of each loaf with a sharp knife.
Bake the loaves for 20-25 minutes until they are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.
Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
