Peel the bananas and chop them into circles, ensuring they are not too thin.
Heat 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a saute pan over medium to high heat.
Add the chopped bananas to the pan and sauté until lightly golden brown, flipping them with a shimmy of the pan.
Once the bananas are tender, remove them from the pan and set aside without cleaning the pan.
In the same pan, add 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter and melt it.
Add 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt to the melted butter and stir to combine.
Cook the mixture over medium to high heat for about 5 to 10 minutes until it turns a deep, rich brown color and a sugary smell fills the air.
Slowly pour in 3/4 cup of heavy cream in batches while whisking, being careful as it will sputter.
Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 1 to 2 minutes.
Add the sautéed bananas back into the caramel sauce and let them soak for 2 to 5 minutes, depending on how thick you want the sauce.
Pour the caramel sauce into a bowl and let it cool before serving.
