Use a mug that is 240ml or larger to avoid overflowing.

Add 4 tablespoons (32g) of plain flour to the mug.

Add 1/2 teaspoon (2g) of baking powder.

Pour in 3 tablespoons (45ml) of milk.

Add 1 tablespoon (15ml) of vegetable oil (or any flavorless vegetable oil like canola, corn, sunflower).

Add 2 tablespoons (38g) of Nutella.

Optionally, add 2 tablespoons (20g) of chocolate chips.

Stir gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix the batter.

Microwave the mug cake for 1 minute.

Check the cake by inserting a toothpick into the center; if it comes out moist, microwave for an additional 15 seconds.

Top with 1 tablespoon (19g) of Nutella and additional chocolate chips.
