Almond milk is lower in calories; water is budget-friendly.

Add 1 cup of water and a dash of salt to the pressure cooker.

Peel the potatoes and slice them into segments or small cubes.

Place the cut potatoes in the pressure cooker.

Put the lid on the pressure cooker and set it to manual for 5 minutes.

When the time is up, manually release the pressure.

Using a pot holder, remove the inner pot and pour the potatoes into a strainer to drain off the water.

Add salt and pepper to taste.

Add margarine and milk to taste, along with 1/8 cup of half-and-half or cream.

Mash the potatoes using an electric potato masher.
