Wash the rice three times until the water runs clear and set aside.
Heat butter in a large saucepan over medium heat.
Add raisins and almond slivers to the saucepan and sauté for about 60 seconds until the raisins start to open and the almonds darken.
Add the washed rice to the saucepan along with salt, cinnamon powder, and cardamom powder; mix well.
Add hot water to the saucepan until the water level is slightly above the rice.
Optionally, add a broth cube for flavor.
Bring the water to a boil on medium to high heat for 1 to 2 minutes until the water level drops slightly below the rice.
Reduce heat to very low, cover with a lid, and simmer for 10 to 12 minutes without stirring or opening the lid.
Turn off the stove and let the rice sit covered for another 5 minutes.
Fluff the rice with a fork and serve.
