In a large bowl, mix together quick oats, brown sugar, flax meal, and salt.
In a separate small bowl, combine tahini or nut butter, vanilla extract, maple syrup, applesauce, and a little bit of water. Whisk until even.
Add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and mix well until a dough forms that sticks together when formed into a ball.
Set the dough aside while preparing the fig filling.
Soak Mission figs in hot water, then drain and remove stems.
In a food processor, combine soaked figs, maple syrup, lemon juice, and a little bit of water. Process until a sticky preserves-like texture is achieved, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed.
Break the dough in half and press one half into the bottom of a lined 8x8" baking pan, ensuring it reaches the edges.
Spread the fig jam evenly over the dough layer.
Break the remaining dough into pieces and scatter it over the fig jam, then gently press and spread it to form a single layer on top.
Bake in the oven, then let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a cutting board to cool for another 10 minutes before slicing.
